Adventure Without Limits
Adventures Without Limits (AWL) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has dedicated more than 20 years to getting people outdoors to experience the amazing natural environment of the Pacific Northwest. Based out of Forest Grove, OR, their organization facilitates outdoor adventures for people of all ability levels and empowers individuals through outdoor recreation. The goal is for participants to gain new skills, increase their self-confidence, overcome fears, and work towards reaching individual goals.
Throughout the years, AWL has focused on breaking down the barriers that prevent individuals from taking part in outdoor recreation. This has included those with physical and developmental disabilities, at-risk youth, and older adults. Common barriers to outdoor recreation are transportation, adequate outdoor clothing, accessible activity locations, adaptive equipment, and the basic knowledge to complete the activity both confidently and safely. Everyone benefits from getting out in nature, being physically active, and socializing with friends and peers. Therefore, AWL encourages all people wanting to experience beginner to intermediate level outdoor adventure to see what they have to offer.Adventures Without Limits offers two types of outdoor programs. The Open Enrollment Trip Calendar has set dates, times, locations and activities that anyone in the general public may attend. AWL also works with many organizations, businesses, and families to create Custom Trip outdoor adventures that meet the specific needs and desired goals of the group. You determine the activity, date and location for the single or multi-day adventure. It’s important to make your reservations early to secure activity dates, as summer and winter seasons can get quite busy. You can see custom trip options and
Adventure offerings include whitewater rafting, inflatable kayaking, flat-water kayaking, canoeing, indoor and outdoor rock climbing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, team building, caving, camping, hiking, and recumbent biking. AWL leads trips throughout the Willamette Valley, Oregon Coast, Central Oregon, and along the Columbia River corridor. On any given adventure they provide the outdoor clothing, transportation, gear, adaptive equipment if needed, instruction, and even offer financial support through scholarships based on availability
Their staff and volunteers are dedicated to helping people reach their potential through meaningful outdoor experiences. Trip mentors include not only professionals in outdoor recreation, but also professionals in other fields such as engineering, teaching, occupational and physical therapy, physiology, and health care.
